On May 10, 2019,  Graduate student scholar Ayah Nuriddin was inducted into the Johns Hopkins innaugural class of the Edward A. Bouchet Graduate Honors Society. Named for the first African American in the United States to receive a PhD, the Edward A. Bouchet Graduate Honor Society seeks to develop a network of pre-eminent scholars who exemplify academic and personal excellence, foster environments of support, and serve as examples of scholarship, leadership, character, service, and advocacy for students who traditionally have been underrepresented in higher education.

Nuriddin, one of six inductees, is the only scholar in the innaugural class whose studies fall within the Humanities. Below, advisors Nathaniel Comfort and Nathan Connolly congratulate Nuriddin on her accomplishments.
