Mary Fissell is convening a conference on The History of the Medical Book at the Henry E. Huntington Library on Nov 15-16. A wide array of noted scholars are speaking on medical books, from early plague pamphlets to 1970s mimeographed home-birth newsletters; Sanskrit spell books to Gray’s Anatomy. Fissell will be speaking on early 20th century readers of Aristotle’s Masterpiece. To follow, her blog post on the conference and program are both available for view.
