Admissions

Poster - FlameThe Program's two departments have separate admissions processes. Students in the history of medicine should apply through the School of Medicine. Students interested primarily in the history of science and technology should apply through the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences.

History of Medicine

Before applying to the Department of the History of Medicine, prospective graduate students are strongly encouraged to arrange with the Graduate Coordinator to visit the Department in the fall semester, interview with the faculty, and meet our current students. If a visit is impractical, we schedule interviews on Skype with a number of faculty members.

The application deadline for History of Medicine is January 15, but applicants are advised to send in the main application materials by January 1. To report GRE scores, applicants should use 5316 (the code for JHU School of Medicine graduate programs).
