West Side Nook
2024 was the year of space updates at the Institute. The Welch Library window replacement and fire suppressant system projects have finally wrapped up. With this, we have taken the opportunity to renovate our graduate student work areas.
We are proud to offer the new Nightingale Graduate Lounge – open to all Institute students! Couches, chairs, and laptop tables encourage a comfy and collaborative environment. A projector and screen give students the ability to hold hybrid meetings, screen films, or practice presentations. Our personal favorite is the cozy West side nook. Perfect for a quiet afternoon of study and focus.

PhD Student Study Carrel
Study carrels, assigned to each PhD student, have been updated with new windows and furnishings. Tucked away in the upper levels of the stacks of the Welch Library, these spaces offer a quiet, personal space for our students. Some highlights include views of the courtyard to the North, shelves and storage, and ample plugs for charging devices.

Center for the Medical Humanities
Desk space for Masters and visiting students is available in the Center for Medical Humanities on the mezzanine level of the library. This room is equipped with a projector as well. Come by the Rare Book Room in Room 325 to get access to the space.
