Meet our faculty, the largest department of medical historians in the US. Our diverse research and teaching interests range from the early modern period to the present with a global perspective, including particular strengths in America, Europe, East Asia, and Africa. Thematically we research histories of global health and disease; biomedicine; medical ways of knowing; healing practices; and the body.
The Department hosts postdoctoral fellows and visiting scholars from around the world.
Graduate students are central to the life of the Department. We attract students from a variety of academic and vocational backgrounds who have an abiding passion to conduct research in the history of medicine and go on to successful careers in their chosen field.
These are the people who keep our Department ticking over.
You’ll find our distinguished alumni all across the world. Here’s a selection of our recent graduates in the history of medicine.
