Biomedicine and its Consequences

(Term 2: Oct 23–Dec 19, 2017; registration deadline: Friday, October 13)

This survey course explores the rapid transformation of health care from the late 19th century to the present day. Topics include: the transformation of surgery; bacteriology; the modern hospital; educational reform and professional control; eugenics; risk, behavior, and chronic disease; biomedical networks; genetic medicine; and global health.
