Many congratulations to grad student Julia Cummiskey, who has been awared a J. B. Harley Fellowship for her research, ‘Viral Cartographies: Mapping Disease in Uganda, 1936-1979’. The Fellowship will enable Julia to visit assorted archives in the UK, including the Wellcome Library, the National Archives at Kew, and the British Library to consult collections containing cartographic materials related to the work of the Yellow Fever Research Institute and the East African Virus Research Institute in Entebbe, Uganda. This research contributes to her dissertation on the history of virus research in Uganda.
